Background
Home & Dry was established in 1996 to improve the living conditions of adults experiencing serious mental ill health in Southwark and Lambeth.
It is funded by both Lambeth and Southwark (SLAM & PCT).
Staffing
4 x project workers; qualified trades people and experienced in working with adults with mental ill health.
1 x coordinator.
Jobs / tasks
- Painting and decorating
- Basic home improvement tasks (eg tiling, woodwork repairs, internal locks etc)
- Small removals
- Health & safety checks
- Liaison with statutory maintenance teams
- Liaison with environmental health
- Liaision with community mental health teams
- Most requests are for full 'make-overs' of properties. The reality is that one or two rooms at the most are able to be prioritised. Many clients receive follow-up visits/work. The main priority is to ensure that there is at least a habitable, safe living environment.
